Rita Khoriaty is the founder of iThinklegal and is a member of the Beirut Bar Association since 2007.
Specialized in civil law, business and corporate law, Rita advises several international groups of companies, private equity funds, venture capital funds, funds of funds, family offices, startups, accelerators and incubators, and has a wide experience in private equity transactions, relocation and restructuring of companies, cross-borders investments and mergers and acquisitions.
After an LL.B. in Private Law and an LL.M. in Business Law from Saint Joseph University, she pursued her doctoral studies in France under the sponsorship of the Council of Research of Saint Joseph University, in recognition of her academic excellence. Rita holds a Ph.D. in Law from Paris 2 Assas University for a thesis entitled “The underlying principles of contract law: crossed views on French, Lebanese, European and international laws” published in Presses Universitaires d’Aix-Marseille. She is the author of several articles published in French and Lebanese legal gazettes, and was also a Lecturer on Civil Law and Commercial Law at the Faculty of Law of Saint Joseph University for 10 years.
Rita has provided workshops and training sessions to many startups enrolled in several accelerators and incubators programs, raising legal awareness about startup practices (conditions for setting up a legal entity, negotiation of term sheets, founders’ agreements, etc.) in BDL Accelerate (Central Bank of Lebanon), American University of Beirut (AUB), Berytech, Entreprenergy, Wamda and other forums. She also represented Lebanon in many international legal conferences and seminars organized by the “Henri Capitant Association” in Europe.
She has worked closely on many legislative projects, among which a project on the independence of the judiciary financed by the UNDP, and was requested to draft a proposition of law governing startups, which was submitted to the Lebanese Parliament.
Rita holds “basic and advanced security in the field” certificates from the United Nations Department of Safety and Security.
